Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing technique used to enhance the appearance of eyebrows. Originating from Asia, this technique has gained widespread popularity in the UK. It involves using a specialised handheld tool with fine needles to deposit pigment into the skin, creating hair-like strokes that mimic the natural brows.
The process begins with a thorough consultation where the desired shape and colour are discussed. The technician then outlines the brows, ensuring symmetry and suitability for the client’s face. A numbing cream is applied to minimise discomfort during the procedure. The microblading tool is then used to make small, precise cuts and deposit pigment, resulting in a natural and fuller brow appearance.
Microblading typically lasts between 12 to 18 months, depending on skin type and aftercare. Regular touch-ups are necessary to maintain the desired look. Post-procedure care includes avoiding excessive moisture, sun exposure, and picking at the scabs to ensure optimal healing.
Ombre brows, also known as powder brows, are a semi-permanent eyebrow styling technique that creates a soft, shaded brow pencil look. This method is gaining popularity in the UK for its ability to offer a fuller, more defined appearance without the harsh lines of traditional tattooing.
The process begins with a consultation where the desired brow shape and colour are tailored to the client's facial features and preferences. After the consultation, a numbing cream is applied to reduce discomfort. Using a small machine, the technician implants pigment into the skin, creating a gradient effect that is lighter at the front of the brow and gradually darkens towards the tail. This technique mimics the look of makeup and can be customised for a more natural or dramatic finish.
Ombre brows typically last between 18 to 24 months, depending on skin type and aftercare. To maintain the brows, touch-ups are recommended annually. After the procedure, proper care is essential, including avoiding water, sun exposure, and picking at scabs to ensure proper healing.
Combo brows combine microblading and shading techniques to create fuller, natural-looking eyebrows. This method is popular in the UK for its ability to offer the precision of hair strokes and the depth of shading.
The process starts with a consultation to determine the ideal shape and colour for the client’s brows. A numbing cream is applied to reduce discomfort. The technician first uses microblading to create fine hair-like strokes, particularly at the front of the brows. Then, a shading technique is used to fill in sparse areas and add depth, resulting in a natural yet defined look.
Combo brows typically last between 12 to 18 months, with annual touch-ups recommended to maintain the appearance. Post-procedure care includes avoiding moisture, sun exposure, and picking at scabs to ensure proper healing.
Lip blush is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure designed to enhance the natural colour and shape of the lips, creating a fuller and more defined appearance. Popular in the UK, this technique uses a specialised tattooing machine to deposit pigment into the lips.
The process begins with a consultation to select the perfect colour match. A numbing cream is applied to minimise discomfort. The technician then uses the machine to apply the pigment, enhancing the lips’ natural contours and providing a soft, tinted effect.
Lip blush typically lasts between 1 to 2 years, with touch-ups recommended to maintain the desired look. Post-procedure care includes avoiding excessive moisture, sun exposure, and using specific aftercare products to ensure proper healing.
Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that creates the illusion of fuller hair by depositing tiny dots of pigment into the scalp. This technique is increasingly popular in the UK for both men and women experiencing hair thinning or loss.
The process starts with a consultation to determine the appropriate hairline design and pigment shade. A numbing cream is applied to ensure comfort during the procedure. The technician uses a specialised machine to implant the pigment into the scalp, creating the appearance of hair follicles and providing a denser look.
SMP typically lasts between 4 to 6 years, with touch-ups required to maintain the effect as the pigment naturally fades. Proper aftercare, including avoiding excessive sweating and sun exposure, is essential to ensure the longevity of the results.
Microblading is a form of cosmetic tattooing. It does not go as deep as a 'normal' tattoo, and uses pigments that break down naturally in your skin over time rather than tattoo ink, and because of this, is semi-permanent with annual top ups being needed and recommended to keep the results crisp and vibrant. The longer you leave your brows, the more they will fade.
The form of microblading we do is with a handheld pen-likedevice which holds tiny sterile disposable needles. These needles are used to scratch the surface of the skin to create fine lines in which pigment isdeposited. This creates natural looking hair strokes to give the appearance of thicker, fuller eyebrows bespoke to your own face. Look at our portfolio for examples of Becky's work and style.
The correct shape of eyebrows will frame your face and emphasise your best features.Anti-aging: An instant facelift that opens the eyes, creating a more youthful appearance. No smudged brows at the gym, on the beach, in the pool, or on holiday. Save money by not needing monthly HD brows or waxing anymore. Easy maintenance when you have your perfect shape to follow all the time! Save time and effort on your daily makeup routine and reduce the cost of eyebrow products.
Semi-permanent means it will fade over time, and if you want to keep your brows looking vibrant, annual top-up appointments will be needed to maintain this look. Semi-permanent does not mean it will 100% fade away. Everyone's bodies will process the pigment differently, and your lifestyle choices will also affect the lifespan of the microbladed brows. This is still a tattoo, so before anyone tells you differently, please bear in mind that whether or not you refresh your eyebrows annually, you may still be left with a shadow or very faded light brow if you don't wish to continue with annual top-ups.
Treatment Overview
The treatment is a two-step process which involves an initial appointment and a 4-6 week touch-up appointment (included in the price). The treatment is not complete until you have attended your touch-up appointment, which must be within 4-6 weeks of your initial treatment.
Some clients, especially those who use sunbeds, sunbathe, don't use sun protection, have sun-damaged skin, oily skin, thick skin, smoke, sweat a lot (from exercise, saunas, etc.), have a fast metabolism, have an iron deficiency, take regular medications, use chemical peels or harsh exfoliants, or those with less natural hair, may need more than one touch-up session to achieve their desired results. They may also need more regular top-ups to keep their brows vibrant.
Top-Ups
Annual top-ups can be needed anywhere between 9 and 18 months on average. Oily skin will expel the pigment faster than combination or dry skin. Oily skin types will retain shading better than just hairstrokes, but more frequent top-ups will be needed. People with less eyebrow hair, or those who have opted for darker pigment colours, will notice their brows fading more than those with some hair or those who have chosen lighter pigment colours. Your skin is a living, breathing organ, and you will react differently to everyone else.
